The Chemistry of Cooking

Date: 18th March 2017

The primary years have been busy completing an IPC unit based on the chemistry of cooking. Students learned about states of matter and chemical reactions through baking, freezing, and shaking. The process was not only insightful, but delicious!

Years 1 and 2 made yummy ice lollies. Years 3 and 4 made butter, ricotta cheese, and smoothies.

 

Years 5 and 6 made sourdough bread, using some expertise help and a special recipe from Ms. Dominika. We even had some special assistants from the nursery class!

 

Add in a few songs and some technology elements, and our unit was complete! 🙂
