Burns Supper at Avangarda Restaurant, March 2019

Burns Supper at Avangarda Restaurant, March 2019

Date: 22nd March 2019

On Saturday, 16th March, Staff, parents and pupils from secondary celebrated the life and works of Scottish poet and revolutionary, Robert Burns, in the form of a Burns Supper.

A Burns Supper is a celebration of the life and work of Robert Burns, the national poet of Scotland, and an important figure in the literary world, an international figure who represented many of our values as a school community.

The evening featured music, poetry recitals, odes and toasts and, of course, whisky and Haggis complete with “neeps and tatties”. We also were able to take part in a Ceilidh, after having a lovely demonstration of some traditional dances.

A Burns Supper, most importantly is about having fun together and enjoying each other’s company, which was true of this evening as well! Thanks to all who came to spend this time together and especially to those who had a role to play in making the evening a success.
