Accreditation and membership

Accreditation and membership

AQA – AQA is an examination organisation based in England which offers the GCSE exams and later As and A level exams. Standards are set and checked by the UK government. GCSE exams are taken by all pupils in England when they are aged 16 (sometimes earlier) and are very popular amongst international schools. They are the equivalent of the equally well known IGCSE exams offered by Cambridge International Exams and prepare pupils for As and A level exams.

As and A level exams are the end of school exams taken in the England and are immensely popular in international schools, as they are used by universities in the UK to select candidates and also enjoy exceptionally wide international recognition by universities, including in Poland.

We have gone through a rigorous preparation period and series of inspections and are recognised and accredited as an AQA centre. You can learn more about AQA from their site. http://www.aqa.org.uk/

The Council Of British International Schools (COBIS) – an organisation that demands high ethical and organisational standards, insists upon good governance practice, UK standards of safeguarding and childcare, compliance with local law, and a curriculum that is not just rigorous, but also compatible with the variety of curricula available in the UK. http://www.cobis.org.uk/

We were granted membership of COBIS in Autumn of 2016.

The European Council of International Schools – has a vision with five key aspects to help member schools; attracting, promoting and retaining talented staff, making use of tangible and intagible assets, managing information and intelligence, safeguarding integrity and standards, and facilitating transformation of learning ecosystems. https://www.ecis.org/

We became members of ECIS in Spring 2016.

Local Education Authority

We are subject to inspections by the Polish education authorities. These inspections are deeply valuable in terms of ensuring we keep good records and that our health and safety procedures are fully compliant with local law.

As a brand new school we will also be applying for membership of the following international education organisations:

The Council of International Schools – “The CIS vision is to inspire the development of global citizens through high quality international education: connecting ideas, cultures and educators from every corner of the world” (quoted from CIS). CIS are particularly demanding in terms of being principled and ethical as employers and as educators. http://www.cois.org/

As CIS require schools to demonstrate reviewing review procedures and so need to have more than one annual review cycle to go through they have recommended schools are four or five years old before starting the application process.
