From 1 to 5 December, our school came alive with festive spirit during Winter Festival Week, a joyful initiative organised and coordinated by the Parent–Teacher Association (PTA). Throughout the week, pupils, families and staff came together to celebrate the season through creativity, music, generosity and shared experiences, culminating in the much-anticipated St Nicholas Day and Christmas Charity Market.
As November drew to a close, the PTA worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare a varied and engaging programme, making this festive week one of the highlights of our school calendar.
- Monday, 1 December – Stocking Day & Family Christmas Workshop
The celebrations began with Stocking Day, inviting everyone to wear their favourite festive socks. After school, families were welcomed to a Family Christmas Workshop, where parents and children worked together to create handmade ornaments and gifts for the upcoming charity market. The warm atmosphere was enhanced by a mini-buffet and hot toasts provided by the PTA, allowing families time to connect and enjoy the festive start together. - Wednesday, 3 December – Music, Meaning and Festive Warmth
Midweek celebrations highlighted the power of music in bringing people together and fostering a sense of joy and belonging. The school day began with festive carols, reminding pupils of the shared values of hope, unity and celebration associated with the Christmas season. Adding to the cosy atmosphere, PTA parents served hot chocolate with sweet toppings on the school terrace in front of Building A, creating a heart-warming and memorable start to the day for the entire school community. - Thursday, 4 December – Crazy Festive Hat Day
Creativity and laughter filled the school as pupils and staff wore Christmas hats, playful accessories and imaginative festive hairstyles, spreading cheer throughout classrooms and corridors. - Friday, 5 December – St Nicholas Day & Christmas Charity Market
The highlight of the week was St Nicholas Day, marked by a special visit from St Nicholas himself. He delighted the youngest pupils by reading Christmas stories, creating a calm and magical moment filled with wonder. All students received magical gifts, adding excitement and joy to the celebrations.
Primary pupils also enjoyed fun and engaging activities led by the PTA, ensuring a festive and inclusive experience for all. The crowning moment of the week was the Christmas Charity Market, held after school outdoors. Led by dedicated PTA parents and supported by Student Council members, the market was a great success and a true celebration of creativity and collaboration. Visitors enjoyed a gallery of student-made artwork, as well as a wide selection of beautiful decorations created by EIS families during the Monday workshop and by pupils during lessons under the guidance of our Art teacher, Ms Magda. The festive atmosphere was completed with sweet treats and refreshments, including hot drinks, toasts and freshly made waffles, which were warmly received by all who attended.
In keeping with the spirit of giving, the PTA once again led a charitable initiative in support of Rupert Mayer’s Orphanage Home, helping to bring joy and essential resources to children in need.
Christmas Festival Week was a wonderful reflection of our school’s strong sense of community, creativity and generosity. We extend our sincere thanks to the PTA, Student Council members, staff and families whose enthusiasm and support made this celebration such a memorable and successful event.
