In September GCSE and A-Level art students visited International Cultural Centre in Kraków.
We received a guided tour around “Adriatic epopee. Ivan Meštrović” exhibition, the very first Polish show of his works.
Ivan Mestrovic sculptor and architect, was one of the greatest Croatian artists of the 20th century. He developed a unique method of combining architecture with urban planning, antique and Byzantine heritage with Modernism, or Slavic and Balkan culture with Mediterranean civilisation. Mestrovic was the first living artist to be honoured with a retrospective show at New York’s Metropolitan Museum.
Our favourite sculpture was titled “Contemplation”.
We also visited and signed up to International Culture Centre’s library.
