Basic Polish for Foreigners – Year 3 to Year 12

15:45 – 16:30

Learn the basics of Polish language: how to communicate in everyday situations. These are fun activities during which pupils learn to speak, write and read in Polish.

Basketball club – Years 7-13

15:30 – 17:00

Basketball club is about learning about teamowrk and cooperation first and foremost. During the club we will learn the basic skills for basketball such as dribbling, shooting, passing, playing defense and the basic rules of the game. Meetings will happen on Tuesdays 15:30 to 17 at Szkoła Podstawowa im. Artura Grottgera nr 106, ul. Litewska 34 We are working on getting a second gym (waiting on response from several schools). If we are successful, we will be running a second day for Yrs 10-13 on Wednesday from 16-1730. This is pending as most schools don’t have their schedules yet and we won’t know until second week of September.

Breakdance – Primary School Year 4 to Year 6

The main focus of these sessions is on building strength, flexibility and to ‘know the beat’. By the end of this programme you will know the basics of moves and sets that you can perform to almost every kind of upbeat music.

Breakdance –Secondary School Year 7 to Year 13

16:25 – 17:15

The main objectives of these sessions are to deepen the strength and flexibility as well ‘catch the rhythm’. At this level we introduce more advanced moves such as Powermoves, and more complicated sets with individual “flava” (fluent connections between moves).

Ceramics – Year 1 to Year 6

15:40 – 16:30

Play with clay and decorate it with child- friendly, non- toxic underglazes. It will take two to three weeks to get the pieces ready. They need to dry and then will be fired twice in a ceramic kiln. All the materials and firing costs are included. Please bring a big, adult size used T-shirt to wear during the session.

Chess – Year 1 to Year 13

15:45 – 16:30 intermediate level

A chance to learn to play chess from scratch or to improve your existing skills in that area. Playing chess increases creativity, improves memory, and helps exercise both sides of the brain. There are two levels of ability: beginners and intermediate.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) course for the parents

14:40 – 15:30

Would you like to improve your English and get to know other parents? We meet once a week and focus on reading and listening comprehension, speaking or grammar. Sometimes our lessons take the form of a conversation club with language correction at the end, sometimes we focus on an excerpt from the book, once a month we run a “quiz night!”.

Gaita bagpipe club – Year 5 and up

15:30 – 16:30

Galician Gaita is a traditional instrument of Galicia and Northern Spain and Portugal. “Gaita” is used as a generic term for bagpipes, they are fun and easy to play and are a great way to be introduced to the magic of bagpipe music from all over the world. Dr Davidson will provide all the equipment needed to borrow during sessions, all the instruments will be disinfected after every session. Limited spaces.

Religion (Roman Catholic) Group 2 – Year 6, 7, 8, 9

15:45 – 16:20

These classes aim to teach pupils about beliefs, doctrines and practices of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland. They are entirely run in Polish and run for older pupils.
